Customers often speculate where our company name, FishTail, originated.
The name was inspired by the spectacular Macchapuchre Mountain, one of
the most picturesque locations in Nepal. Translated, “machha” means fish
and “puch” means tail.
The FishTail Mountain is part of the Himalayan mountain range and is
located in close proximity to the Annapurna Sanctuary. Although not the
highest peak in the Himalayans, FishTail is about 7,000 meters. It is
immediately to the north of the Pokhara Valley, which is situated at an
altitude of approximately 900 meters from sea level.
While it may look like many other classic mountains from its most common
view in Pokhara, travelers that go on a week long trek deep into the
sanctuary are rewarded with a view of the peak resembles a Fish's tail.
The mountain is considered sacred and has never been climbed.
